ITINERARY
The “Omo Valley Tour” is an extraordinary opportunity to meet some of the more remote ethnic groups of the fascinatingly diverse areas surrounding the Omo river in south Ethiopia. You will learn about the varied ethnic groups who inhabit the region - from the Mursi, renowned for their lip plates, the Konso famous for their terraced farming and Visit the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Tiya to Hamer famous for their bull jumping coming of age ceremony. DAY 01. ARRIVAL ADDIS ABEBA Addis Abeba means “new flower” and is Ethiopia’s capital city. Sitting at an elevation range 2500m above sea level, Addis Abeba is one of Africa`s fastest developing cities, a cultural and culinary hub, the headquarter of AFRICA UNION. Sites: Ethnological Museum, Tomoca Coffee, National Museum, Mercato, Entoto Hills, Shiro Meda Market, Women Pottery. DAY 02. ADDIS ABEBA – ARBAMINCH Arba Minch is located in South part of Ethiopia and is your gateway to ethnical tribes. Along the way, you'll visit Tiya, a UNESCO World Heritage site which contains 36 monuments, including 32 carved stelae covered with symbols. DAY 03. DORZE VILLAGE AND LAKE CHAMO Morning, take a boat ride on Lake Chamo to see hippos, crocodile’s, aquatic bird life and fisher man on the banks of the lake. Afternoon drive to the Dorze village. DAY 04. ARBAMINCH – JINKA Drive to Jinka on the way passing visit the different tribes including Tsemay by Weito river and Benna tribes at Keyafer. DAY 05. JINKA – TURMI Drive to Mago Park early morning seeing some wild life and Mursi peoples at their villages and drive back to Jinka for lunch break. At afternoon, leave to Turmi and then drive to Omorate to visit the Dasenech people who are living on the banks of river Omo. Late afternoon explore villages of the Hammer around Turmi. DAY 06. TURMI – KONSO Drive to Karo villages, the Karo wear an elaborate hairstyle sculpted in Chignon of dried mud adorned with Ostrich feathers. Depart to Konso, en route stop to visit konso villages. Konso is known for 'Totomes' a grave marks and terracing farms. DAY 07. KONSO – YIRGALEM After breakfast drive to Yirgalem, a sidama village & coffee plantation. On the way stop and taking photo a beautiful nature and nice view landscapes. By night, you may have a chance to see hyenas. DAY 08. YIRGALEM – ADDIS After breakfast drive to Hawassa, you will visit the fish market, walk and get a freesh air on the shore of the lake and grab a coffee in the city. Drive back to Addis Abeba.
