ITINERARY
Located about 101 km north of Addis Ababa, the Debre Libanos Monastery was founded in the 13th century by Saint Tekle Haymanot, one of Ethiopia’s most revered saints. Today, it remains a major pilgrimage site for the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and is especially known for its miraculous spring, believed by many to have healing powers. Although the original church was destroyed during the Italian occupation under Mussolini, the site continues to inspire both spiritual devotion and historical interest. On the way, you may encounter endemic Ethiopian wildlife, including the majestic Gelada baboon and a variety of colorful native bird species — a true delight for nature lovers and photographers.
